he Paramis as Wildflowers of the Heart
The paramis are like a packet of wild flowers seeds, we can sow in any soil, we don't need to be in retreat to cultivate these qualities. I used to live on Navarro Ridge Road in Northern California in the late seventies. One of my favorite walking paths started close to the cabin I lived in and wound down to Navarro Beach. The path used to be the old Highway 1 that runs along most of the California coast. There were still remnants of the old road though much was cracked from the shifting earth and in some places had fallen down the cliff. What struck me, though, was how the wildflowers were able to fracture the blacktop. The paramis are like this as well. They can break through the business and defenses that inevitably harden us and offer us their expression of well being, beauty, and freedom. We will particularly explore patience and renunciation. ~ Arinna
